Precision Weather Service
Specialized weather forecasting, research and consulting worldwide
Precision Weather Service is one of the oldest private weather forecasting firms in North America. Founded in 1974 by Wayne Mahar, Precision Weather Service has a staff of a dozen meteorologists operating in several locations across the United States including Portland, Maine, Syracuse, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Precision Weather Service meteorologists can be heard on radio stations Newfoundland to Florida and Alaska to the Virgin Islands. The largest transit system in the country, the New York City MTA has depended on Precision Weather’s accuracy for many years to help keep the Big Apple prepared and running in storms. In fact, after Super Storm Sandy of 2012, Wayne Mahar and Russ Murley of Precision Weather Service were asked to give a day long presentation to NYC officials on how to better prepare for the next super storm.
Precision Weather Service clients cover the spectrum from broadcasting to newspaper, utilities, ski resorts, city and county highway departments, forensic weather research for Court and insurance cases and events of all sizes world wide.
In our events division, we typically forecast for 200+ events annually. Most Hollywood red carpet events and high profile weddings depend on Wayne Mahar and staff for precise forecasting and alerts of storms.
From Oprah’s book tour to VH1 Bus tours, the Super Bowl to the MLB All Star Game, the weddings of Reese Witherspoon, Adam Levine and Erin Andrews, Holiday parties for Madonna and the Kardashians to the World Equestrian Games and the New York State Fair, Coachella in California to Apple events, Precision Weather Service has done it all, and that why Wayne Mahar is known as Meteorologist to the Stars.
